The Chinese Medicinal Herbs

The Heritage

Chinese herbal medicine originated in China thousands of years ago and has been adopted as mainstream medical system throughout the world. Chinese herbs are complex pharmacological substances that contain powerful nutrients and actives that address health issues and are able to restore biological balance, by treating the underlying causes of a concern as well as the certain pathologies. There are over 12,000 types of herbs recognised by Traditional Chinese Medicine, although only a few hundred of these are commonly used in clinical practice. In dermatology Chinese herbs are a very important field of clinical applications and research as their efficacy to treat skin problems has become evident throughout the centuries.

The Alchemical composition – The state of the Art

In SkinPointEight formulations specific herbs are employed to address pathologies of skin and treat underlying causes of premature ageing. The formulations blend the herbs according to their Chinese medicine hierarchy divided into the Principle, the Deputy, the Assistant and the Envoy herbs that are combined in an optimal manner. The combination maximises the therapeutic efficiency of the actives as well as their healing benefits on the skin. Their specific amount of each herb, enhances the result oriented value of the sophisticated formulations.

The Superior Adaptogens Potents

The scientific revolutionary discovery

Adaptogen herbs are one of the most unique and fascinating groups of herbs to take into the 21st century. They do not only increase the resistance to the adverse effects of long-term ageing factors yet the majority are also tonics, immune-regulating and increase a general sense of well-being.

The term adaptogen was first defined by pharmacologists in mid-1990’s. They defined “adaptogens” as bioactive agents which allow an organism to counteract any adverse effects of a physical, chemical or biological stressor by generating non-specific resistance.

  • They are nontoxic even to very high concentrations
  • They produce a nonspecific response on the body’s physiology and increase the body’s resistance to multiple challenges from either internal (cellular) or external (systemic or environment)
  • Adaptogens have a normalising influence on physiology, irrespective to the direction of ageing factors that the body is facing at present.

Thousands of scientific research papers have been published on adaptogenic herbs. This research into the adaptogenic properties of plants continues today and there remains little doubt that adaptogens increase an organism’s adaptation to stress and have a normalizing influence on our physiology with significant clinical and research applications.

SkinPointEight skin care collection uses a very high potency of primary and secondary adaptogen herbs in a fine balance to deliver the balanced support for the skin’s needs.
