John’s research interests arise from recurring clinical questions: how needle and tissue interaction may relate to facial mechanics, how nervous system state may influence the visible experience of ageing, and how traditional acupuncture models can be examined without overstating scientific certainty.

Towards a Neuro Aesthetic Model of Facial Ageing: Auricular Neuromodulation as a Candidate Regulatory Interface

This paper proposes auricular neuromodulation as a candidate interface between nervous system regulation and facial ageing. It establishes a conceptual framework for discussion and future investigation rather than claiming definitive clinical proof.

The work has been accepted for professional poster presentation at RCCM 2026. Publication information will be added when formally confirmed.

John is also developing work around deliberate needle and tissue engagement, fascia and mechanobiology within cosmetic acupuncture. The aim is to distinguish clinical hypothesis, observed response and established evidence clearly.
